Marketing Consents and GDPR

Offer your supporters the chance to opt-in to hearing more from your charity.

Visitors to your dedication pages can be asked if they would like to hear more from your charity. Adding a marketing question means you can ask permission to stay in touch with them in the future.

How to set-up your marketing consent request

Your account manager can add this for you. You will need to send an email to them with a short piece of text and a link to your privacy policy.

Please note: Make sure you keep a note of the text provided and the date. This means that if you ever update the wording, you will have a record of what text was showing when a supporter made a dedication. GDPR requires that you can show the wording used in your request for consent at the time a supporter opted in.

What you need to know

  1. We will show supporters your request every time they make a dedication.
    This is different to the Tribute Fund service where a supporter isn't asked for their preferences again once they have selected their options. The difference is because supporters don't create user accounts on our dedication pages service... so we can't record their preferences.
  1. You must include a link to your Privacy Policy on your website. That way the supporter has access to this information at the time that they are making their choices about consent.
  1. You only need to set your request up once.
    We will use this for each campaign you create. If you have more than one page running in parallel - for example a Father's Day page alongside your normal In Memory page - then to keep things simple each of these will use the same request.
  1. You can see responses in your dedication report which you download from Your Dedications in the Dedications tab. Responses will be:
  • Opt-in: the supporter has agreed to contact by that channel
  • Opt-out: the supporter has chosen not to accept contact by that channel
  • Not asked: the supporter asked to remain anonymous when making their donation. We don't pass on their contact details, so we don't ask for contact consent.
  1. Contact by Post is only offered as a channel if the supporter is making a donation.
    This is because we only collect address information for donors. Supporters who create a dedication without a donation will only be asked for consent to contact by email.
